Keep Iowa Beautiful is a statewide nonprofit committed to enhancing the image and appearance of the countryside and Iowa communities thereby improving their economic health and cultural vitality.
The face of Iowa reflects the cultural and economic vitality of its countryside, towns and cities. When these areas shine, Iowa shines!
Through the financial support of our sponsors, partners, and grant programs and commitments from our legislative advocates, we can succeed in our mission.
We believe that when we make supporting and sustaining the communities in Iowa our priority, we all help Iowa shine.

Keep Iowa Beautiful empowers Iowans to bring cultural and economic vitality into communities through improvement and enhancement programs.
Keep Iowa Beautiful’s History
Keep Iowa Beautiful began in 2000 as a vision by former Governor Robert D. Ray and civic leader, Donald F. Lamberti. Together, the two formed the nonprofit organization to empower Iowans to bring cultural and economic vitality into our communities through improvement and enhancement programs. Keep Iowa Beautiful is an affiliate of the nationally respected Keep America Beautiful program.
To date, our organization has affected many outcomes across Iowa through anti-litter programs and education, partnerships with the Adopt-a-Highway program, various studies, support of volunteer programs, and with our signature Hometown Pride coaching program.
